LONDON, September 13th, 2006 – Canon UK, leader in digital imaging and technology, today unveiled a new campaign designed to improve the health, and therefore the productivity and profitability, of UK businesses. Canon’s ‘Small Steps’ programme is a step-by-step guide which analyses print usage across an organisation and shows where resources are being wasted.
With printing costs accounting for 3% of a company’s turnover[1], it is important that costs are controlled and Canon’s programme provides the tools to make this happen. The ‘Small Steps’ programme is divided into four separate, but linked, stages:
Diet – ‘watch what you print’. Many individuals are all too keen to use colour as their default print setting without realising the costs of doing so. ‘Diet’ explains the costs of colour and shows how to keep costs down by using the best printers for the appropriate job.
Exercise – from ensuring urgent jobs get to the top of the print queue to printing securely, exercise focuses on how Canon’s solutions can eradicate frustrations that users often have when they are printing. Exercise also focuses on toning up and looking good – i.e. guaranteeing the utmost print quality (even in-house) and advanced document finishing for when organisations really want to stand out.
Coaching – software, solutions and consultancy to keep your business in the lead. Coaching focuses on the additional support that Canon provides customers to ensure they have access to market-leading solutions and back-up support to control all printing within the business environment. Solutions such as uniFLOW Output Manager combined with expert support ensure speed, efficiency and maximum printer uptime.
Results – combining all elements of Canon’s ‘Small Steps’ Programme will ensure businesses get healthy and therefore more profitable. Companies which go through the programme will also contribute to a greener environment –for instance by promoting double-side printing and by reducing paper and power consumption.
David Smith, Marketing Director, Canon Business Solutions, Canon UK commented, “Printing is a huge part of any organisation’s day-to-day operation and many companies don’t think twice about using apparently “low-priced” colour printers that have high per page charges. The purpose of ‘Small Steps’ is to help businesses streamline their print operation by using the most effective printers for each individual job requirement as well as a range of software solutions and consultancy, which will result in the best efficiency, productivity and ultimately profitability for our customers.”
In addition to unveiling the ‘Small Steps’ programme at the IMAX, Canon will also be launching six new devices delivering between 26 and 51 colour prints per minute to add to its fast-growing office colour portfolio. The iRC2880i, iRC3380/i , iRC4080i , iRC4580i , CLC4040 and CLC5151 are Canon’s latest, next generation MFPs, designed to deliver smart, high quality, fully controllable and secure colour printing for every business need. These new devices show Canon’s commitment to colour and the latest InfoSource figures for the first half of 2006 show Canon UK as number one manufacturer for colour and colour capable sales with a 29% market share – almost 10% ahead of the nearest competitor.
