Provider Of Robust And Reliable Printers Replaces Legacy HP and Epson Printers To Transform Printing Needs At A Busy School...

TallyGenicom, a leading provider of business printers, today announced that Yateley School has utilised a mixture of its colour laser printers to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). The school is utilising a mix of TallyGenicom’s 8008N, 8108N and 8124N colour laser printers to upgrade it’s legacy printers and enjoys a solution that enables its printers to be connected to the network.

Set in a large and attractive campus of 45 acres, Yateley School is a specialist art school in Surrey with over 1,500 pupils. With tightening budgets, the school was keen to decrease TCO and install a range of robust printers capable of connecting easily to its LAN. In 2004, the school began upgrading its entire ICT infrastructure, starting with with the installation of electronic interactive whiteboards, an additional ICT suite and a completely refurbished library. The next item on the agenda was the replacement of the printers.

“We had a mixture of printers, mainly from HP and Epson, that were old and couldn’t be connected directly to the LAN. The inkjet printers in particular were proving expensive to run and suffered from too many paper jams,” says Yateley School ICT Support Manager, Roger Baker. “We looked at the latest solutions from HP and Epson but considered them to be too ‘plasticy’ and not as robust as we needed for a school environment.”

Since the implementation of TallyGenicom printers, Yateley School has noticeably reduced its support overheads and enjoyed the benefit of all printers being connected to the schools’ LAN. “Due to the installation of TallyGenicom’s more efficient printer solutions we have moved on from needing two printers per classroom to only one, saving us significant capital outlay,” explained Baker. “This is coupled with the significant reduction in the number of support calls and printer downtime. We have far fewer issues with the TallyGenicom printers than we had with our legacy solutions, and when we do need support it is provided very promptly.”

“We are delighted that Yateley School is enjoying its TallyGenicom printers. It is absolutely paramount to schools today to enjoy the best–and most cost effective-solutions in the market to support overall activity,” says TallyGenicom Executive Vice President for EMEA, Robin Edwardes. “Yateley’s work is proof that all schools can achieve significant cost savings, through the utilisation of the best in class technology.”
