New product strengthens Canon’s complete business solutions offering...
Reigate, June 20th, 2006 – Canon UK, leader in digital imaging and technology, today announced its entry into the A3 laser cartridge-based market with the launch of the MF7170i. Aimed at general business, but predominantly SMEs, the introduction of the MF7170i is in direct response to market demands for cost effective, efficient devices for small workgroups. The addition of laser cartridge-based technology to its A3 portfolio highlights Canon’s commitment to the market and ensures that Canon continues to offer the broadest range of business printers and solutions available.
According to independent research (IDC 2005), 87% of all documents printed are five pages or less. As such, the MF7170i, sister product to the toner based iR2016i, is compact enough to sit within small workgroups and so is ideally suited to facilitating small, day-to-day print jobs whilst increasing productivity by freeing up larger machines to complete more complex or bigger jobs.
Glen Mason, Office Marketing Manager, Canon UK comments, “Following the results of research conducted by IDC, it is apparent that the need for printer/ copiers designed solely for small print jobs is ever increasing. Canon has a range of devices to suit this need and the logical step was to extend the choice within our product portfolio to incorporate A3 laser cartridge-based devices – such as the MF7170i. This cost-effective, compact device delivers high quality output and directly responds to market requirements.”
The MF7170i is a Multifunctional printer/ copier that can print documents up to A3 size at a speed of 16ppm. The device is sold as a ‘plug-and-play’ ready unit with 12 months on-site warranty as standard. Its colour scanning facility, i-SEND, allows scan and send functionality in colour, improving the quality of scanned documents and saving the additional cost of a colour network scanner. Furthermore, the send function allows scanned documents to be sent directly across a company’s network, to an email address, FTP site or database.
An automatic document feeder and a user friendly interface complete the standard configuration of this new device. The MF7170i is on sale now across the UK and Ireland.
