SEH Presents New Print Servers and Extended Functionalities for Latest Print Server Line...
Brighton, UK, August 10, 2006. – Network specialist SEH enhances all models of its latest print server family to support the new network protocol IPv6. The external print servers PS01a, PS03a, PS23a, PS34a, PS34a-PoE, and PS54a-G are IPv6 enabled. Two new Ethernet/Fast Ethernet print servers complete this product range: PS104 for parallel and serial printers (available in October) as well as PS105 featuring a parallel interface. All models satisfy the requirements of the IPv6 Forum. Moreover, they are equipped with numerous printing functionalities for IPv6 and fully functional with IPv4. The new SEH print servers are now available and replace their respective precursors at the same price – some of the new print servers are even more favourably priced. Depending on the model, prices for the new devices range from 107 to 275 British Pound (excluding taxes).
"IPv6 is advancing fast. The public sector, government institutions, and intelligence organisations in the USA and many Asian countries already require that all newly acquired network components must be IPv6 enabled," says Ray Bridges, Managing Director at SEH Technology UK Ltd. IPv6 offers greatly simplified network administration because IPv6 enabled network devices are plug & play solutions: They configure themselves automatically as soon as they are connected to the network. Also, networks based on IPv6 provide higher performance than IPv4 networks because hubs, routers, and switches are significantly relieved. "Our new IPv6 enabled SEH print servers allow users to benefit from the advantages of the new Internet protocol standard for network printing," Bridges
says.
Numerous Printing Functions for IPv6 Network Printing
The new SEH print servers support the common printing protocols LPD/LPR (Line Printer Daemon/Line Printer Remote), IPP v1.1(Internet Printing Protocol), and Socket Printing in IPv6 based networks. In addition, they offer widely used applications such as HTTP, HTTPs, HTML, and FTP. As these print servers are fully functional with IPv4, they provide protection of investment in case of a planned migration to IPv6.
Powerful Features Based on State of the-Art Technology
The powerful features of SEH’s new print server line include the support of all common operating systems, among them Windows, Linux, UNIX, Apple, and Novell, as well as a standard ThinPrint client, providing bandwidth-optimised network printing and ThinPrint SSL decoding. The new models are equipped with an encompassing security package: access protection, encryption (SSL/TLS), authentication via RADIUS server, and certificates. The scope of supply and services includes support via email and phone, regular firmware updates as well as a three year period of guarantee. In case of product registration this period will be extended to five years.
Comprehensive Portfolio of IPv6 Enabled Print Servers
In December 2005 SEH introduced the first IPv6 enabled fibre optic print server for HP printers with EIO port. Together with the new products, SEH offers the most comprehensive product range for network printing with IPv6.
